Rehearsals and attendance

We are now well into rehearsals of the song list sent out previously and are looking for new gigs in what is still a restricted environment due to fears of covid infections. We have several leads and will keep you posted on these. We are also expecting some publicity in the Standard as Kevin McSheffrey recently came to our rehearsal and took notes for an article in the paper about us.

There is a concern that attendance at rehearsals has been poor with only about half of our members coming out regularly. We need everyone to come out as we need all the voice ranges to ensure our resulting sound is right. Camella has also added an additional number to the line-up.

Please try to come out for the Wednesday rehearsals at 7pm at the United church basement.

PUBLICITY OPPORTUNITY

A representative of the Elliot Lake Standard will attend our next rehearsal on Wednesday, February 8th., 2023.

He will not be taking pictures but will be gathering information about us for an article in the newspaper.

Please make every effort to attend next Wednesday, as this will be a great opportunity to make our group known in the community. Not only by those living here but also those looking for entertainment for their club etc.

It will not be necessary to  wear the clubs "uniform" because, as mentioned, he will not be taking pictures for the edition.

Jean Toovey

Jean Toovey, our beloved Music Director of the Elliot Lake Men of Song for so many years, has been admitted in serious condition to the Intensive Care Unit at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elliot Lake.

Her son, Bruce, informs us the medical staff do not expect her to last more then a few days and we know the hospital will do all they can to keep her as comfortable as possible in the time she has left.

We wish Jean and her family all our love and best wishes and we will keep you informed of further developments.

Update, Jean passed away on 12th. February.  A Celebration of Life will be held sometime in the warmer months later this year. Men of Song have been asked to participate in the event and we will keep you informed of further developments.
